Dr. Zhang Tianliang is an expert on Sino-US politics and a scholar of history and culture.

Dr. Tianliang Zhang was born in mainland China and went to the United States for further studies in 2000. In 2007, he earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University.
Dr. Zhang is a prolific author. In 2003, he published the novel 出塵 (Chu Chen). In 2006, he released the DVD "A Discussion on Party Culture", which is conservatively estimated to have been distributed through underground channels to tens of millions of people in mainland China. In 2009, he published the political commentary collection "China’s Path to Peaceful Transformation." In 2010, he wrote and produced the film 機緣 (Jiyuan).
From 2011 to 2019, he created "Laughing at the Winds of History", a video series on Chinese history consisting of 192 episodes and approximately 1.5 million words, covering key figures and events from the pre-Qin period to the late Ming dynasty; it was later published as a book in 2025. In 2014, he co-authored "An Unprecedented Evil Persecution" with former Vice Presidents of the European Parliament and other political figures and experts. In 2022, he published the 500,000-word "The Essence of Chinese Civilization". In 2024, he released a 65-episode video course titled History of the "Qin and Han Dynasties". Other books he co-authored, which reflect on and expose the crimes of communism, have been translated into more than 20 languages.
Dr. Zhang has served as a visiting professor at Fei Tian University and George Mason University, chief writer for The Epoch Times, senior commentator for New Tang Dynasty Television, guest commentator for Voice of America and Radio Free Asia, and executive producer of documentary films.
He currently serves as a professor at Fei Tian University and hosts the YouTube channels 天亮時分 (@TianliangTimes) and 天亮論證 (@TianliangZhang). Since launching in April 2019, the two channels have accumulated over 700,000 subscribers and more than 250 million total views as of February 2026. In 2021, he founded the nonprofit organization Tianliang Alliance, where he serves as Executive Director.
